This is the reverse tensioner, made by Bearmach. It is a part of the gearbox reverse gear mechanism. It is usually replaced when it is worn or damaged, causing noise in reverse or difficulty engaging it, or during a gearbox overhaul.
Compatible with Land Rover Defender 2.5 diesel and 3.5 V8, Series III (Santana) 3.5 V8, Santana Aníbal PS-10 2.8 diesel.
