This is the hydraulic tappet, made by AE. It transmits the camshaft movement to the valve train and automatically takes up valve clearance. It is usually replaced when it is worn or sticking, causing tapping noises from the engine.
Compatible with Land Rover Defender, Discovery 1 and 2, Series III (Santana), Range Rover Classic and P38 V8.
